Got through customs fairly easily - well, I did anyway. Of course Elisha had to go to the foreigner line, so whilst I whizzed by and collected our luggage, Elisha was still waiting.
Eventually picked up the car. What a bloody hassle that was. We were the second in line but had to wait about 20 mins to be served. Then we find out the only auto they had had only just arrived back and wouldn't be ready for another 30 minutes. So we wait after finding some seats.
After the 30 minutes have passed, I line back up only to wait another 10 minutes to be served. With the additional 20 mins to fill in all the forms, we didn't end up leaving the airport until after 15:00.
We drove from the airport but missed the turn off to the Erskine Bridge. We sort of didn't realise our mistake until we arrived in Greenock - the wrong side of the Clyde. Turning around, we find our turn off and make our way to Balloch.
Stop in at the pub and ask for directions and were told Gowanlea was only a few hundred yards up the road. Finally, our journey was coming to an end. Or so we thought. Andrea was not home. In need of a phone and the loo, we make our way back to the pub. Order a pint of bitter and a scotch and are told the phone at the pub has been broken for months. One of the patrons offers us his mobile and we call Andrea. As it turns out, she had seen us head for the pub so was waiting for us to call.
Andrea is absolutely lovely. A lady with a young family of 2 girls (8 & 11). She showed us around and had a good chat. We met her youngest who just loves all the visitors that arrive at Gowanlea.
Elisha and I are finally able to have our first shower in 2 days and feel much better. Or as well as you can after travelling half way around the world and only getting 4 hours sleep between Friday 7:30 am and Sunday 3:30 am.
Well, our first night in Scotland is over. I've organised to have dinner with my fathers cousin Jim and his wife Jean for Wednesday night at Muirholm Hotel (although I have a funny feeling we are driving to Edinburgh on Wednesday. Better check that!) Might be worth organising Friday as we need a place to stay and have already been offered by Jim & Jean.
Ended up going to bed at 20:00. Woke up a couple of times during the night but managed to sleep until 6:30. Still a little tired but at least I've had 10 hours sleep.
