A relatively quiet day today. We travelled from Kraków heading towards Hungary. Of course, Hungary does not sit next to Poland, so after crossing the border into Slovakia, once again without a passport check, changing some money, we stopped off at McDonalds for lunch. We passed through a very scenic part of Slovakia, through the Slovakian part of the Tatra Mountains.
Our lunch break was called off early, with no complaints from us or the other passengers. In actual fact, it was refreshing getting out of the 34 degree heat and onto the air conditioned bus. It is starting to get damn hot over here at the moment.
Got into Budapest mid-afternoon and relaxed. The air-conditioner in our room was immediately turned on with very little effect. Event when set to 10 degrees, it has taken until 23:00 to cool the room, although it is still quite hot.
Instead of going on the Danube cruise excursion, Elisha and I thought we'd brave the night time heat and head into the city. Took the metro into the city centre and walked to the banks of the Danube near the old chain bridge. Got some wonderful photos of the palace under lights, then just sat around and relaxed together watching the boats on the river and the birds in the air.
As we headed back, we saw a busker playing some beautiful classical music on the violin. After dropping some money in his case, he got up and started talking with us. He gave us some places to see Budapest at night (which we were unable to do) then gave Elisha the violin to play. Lets just say she wont make much money busking on a violin.
After getting back to the hotel, we saw Paul and Sue sitting down with a drink. Joining them, they told us the cruise, although good, was very short and believe Elisha and I made the right choice in not going on it. We certainly got some better photos.
As we headed to bed, a thunderstorm rolled in, so we were very lucky we got back when we did.
