Day 4: Glasgow

This morning we decided to go on the Loch Lomond cruise. As we were walking down to the docks, Elisha spied a gift shop. Went in and had a great chat to the lady that runs the shop. She gave Elisha some addresses to music shops in Glasgow for some early music.

We jumped on the 11:30 cruise and headed up the Loch. It really is beautiful country up there, although the wind was quite strong.

On the way back though we caught up with another of the boats that had actually broken down (so it wasn't a great feat in catching up to it in the end). The lads tied the two boats together and we towed it out of the channel. Had a chat to some of the other passengers and found out they had been stranded for about 10 minutes, so nothing to get too carried away about.

Safely got back to shore and headed to Invararey to see the Duke and Duchess of Argyle's castle. It is kind of impressive to visit a living castle although I did get the feeling of a museum. The sections we saw are obviously not used by the family any more.

From the castle, we went to Invararey Jail. It is bloody frightening to see the conditions the prisoners (some of them children) had to deal with.

Came home and it absolutely bucketed down - that real heavy rain where even with the wipers on full, I still had trouble seeing the road. "Summer my arse" was how Elisha described it and I have to totally agree with her.

With all the rain that was coming down, there were many, and I mean many, waterfalls coming down the hills. Wonderful sight.

Dinner once again (I'm beginning to like this dinner idea). Down to Balloch house for a very tasty dinner then to the pub to wash it all down.
